As Laura rests in her hospital bed just out of reach from me, I'm in a quiet room trying to gather my thoughts in nervous and excited anticipation of the arrival of our son! The best part about this room is the echo of his heartbeat coming from the speakers on the monitor.
I'll give the full story later once he arrives, but we've been in the hospital since just before 7am this morning after Laura's water broke just after 6am. Since we've been here, Laura's been hooked up for monitoring to make sure the little guy is still doing well. He's an active guy...we're guessing he is doing some stretches as he gets ready for his big work out we hope will happen in the next few hours.
This is an exciting time yet very stressful one as well! The only thing holding back my excitement of his arrival, is my heart-breaking view of my wife, hooked up to a handful of machines with tubes and cords running around her bed giving her the fluids and the meds she needs. Just like with Erica's birth, I feel completely useless because I can only sit here and offer my hands to hold and squeeze when her discomfort and pain gets to be too much.
We can't wait to meet you, little man...just a few more hours (hopefully) and we will have you in our arms and will shower you with the same love your sister has enjoyed for almost 3 years. We love you very much! See ya soon!!
Love,
Daddy and Mommy
